Our Commitment to You

Buying original art is a considered decision. At JG Contemporary, we want you to feel entirely confident before, during, and long after your purchase. This page sets out exactly what you receive, how your work is protected in transit, and what happens if something is not right.

Certificate of Authenticity

Every original artwork and limited-edition print sold by JG Contemporary is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA). Each certificate includes:

  • Title, medium, dimensions, and year of creation
  • Edition number and total edition size (for prints)
  • Artist's signature and, where applicable, gallery counter-signature
  • A unique reference number that can be verified with the gallery
  • Date of sale and gallery contact details

The COA travels with the work and provides a permanent provenance record. If you ever sell or gift the piece, this documentation transfers with it.

Condition Reports

All works are inspected and documented before dispatch. Condition reports are available on request for any original work priced above £500. Please contact us prior to purchase and we will provide a detailed written report and additional photographs within 24 hours.

Packaging & Insured Worldwide Shipping

We take packaging seriously. Originals and prints are prepared according to their medium and size:

  • Unframed prints: rolled in archival tissue, inserted into a rigid tube or flat-packed between acid-free boards, then sealed in a protective outer carton.
  • Framed works and originals on board or canvas: corner-protected, wrapped in conservation glassine, boxed with custom foam inserts, and double-boxed for international shipments.
  • Oversized or particularly fragile works: crated on request — please enquire before ordering.

All shipments are fully insured at the purchase price and dispatched with tracked, signed-for couriers. You will receive tracking details by email once your order has left the gallery. In the unlikely event of damage in transit, please retain all packaging and notify us within 48 hours so that we can manage the insurance claim on your behalf.

Framing Options

Many works can be supplied framed or unframed. Where framing is available, this is noted on the individual product page. We work with specialist fine-art framers using conservation-grade materials — UV-protective museum glass, acid-free mounts, and sustainably sourced mouldings. If you would like to discuss a bespoke framing option not listed, please get in touch.

Returns & Exchanges

Limited-Edition Prints

We accept returns on undamaged, unframed prints within 14 days of delivery. The work must be returned in its original packaging and in the same condition as received. Return postage is at the buyer's cost unless the item arrived damaged or incorrectly described. Refunds are processed within 5 working days of safe receipt.

Original Artworks

Because originals are unique, one-of-a-kind works, we encourage you to contact us before purchasing if you have any questions about size, colour, texture, or how a piece photographs versus how it looks in person. We are happy to arrange video calls, additional photographs in natural light, or augmented-reality placement previews where available.

Returns on original artworks are considered on a case-by-case basis. If a work arrives in a condition that differs materially from its description, we will always make it right — either through a full refund or exchange. Please notify us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs of the work and packaging.
