Fin DAC is an Irish-born, London-based muralist, painter, sculptor and illustrator known for his bold, cinematic portraits of women that blend Eastern and Western influences.
Raised in the brutalist landscape of Elephant and Castle, Fin DAC’s early exposure to an Aubrey Beardsley print and a Japanese tea set quietly shaped his aesthetic sensibilities. After years working as an engineer and web developer, he discovered painting in his forties—finding calm, focus and purpose through portraiture.
Inspired by Japanese woodblock prints, manga and the Victorian Aesthetic Movement, his work celebrates empowered female figures who exist between worlds—balancing tradition and modernity, strength and vulnerability. His trademark masks, influenced by Blade Runner’s Pris and Annie Lennox’s androgynous persona, conceal as much as they reveal, symbolising both mystery and protection.
Fin DAC’s large-scale murals have transformed walls worldwide—from London’s St Charles women’s psychiatric unit to streets across the Americas and Asia—and he was even granted permission by the Frida Kahlo estate to depict her in Mexico. His recent HomEage series pays tribute to icons such as Basquiat, Nagel and Warhol, while his evolving Girls of Dactown universe pushes his storytelling into sculpture and futuristic fantasy.
No longer searching for his place in the art world, Fin DAC has built one entirely his own.
