On the Move
On the Move by Chris Spring, 2023
From a Life Drawing session
Ink (bamboo pen) and charcoal on wallpaper
38 x 28 cm
Framed
"On the Move," is a unique artwork, originating from a live drawing session, that showcases the fluidity and grace of the human form in motion, captured through the bold strokes of a bamboo pen and the rich textures of charcoal on wallpaper.
At the heart of this 38 x 28 cm piece is the essence of movement, each line meticulously drawn to chart the course of the subject's journey. The bamboo pen, traditionally used for its capacity to create a variety of lines, lends an organic feel to the image, its natural flexibility allowing for both precision and flow. The charcoal adds depth and contrast, highlighting the form and energy of the figure.
The choice of wallpaper as a medium adds an intriguing layer of domesticity to the piece, suggesting movement within personal spaces and the narratives that unfold within them. It's a testament to the artist's skill and creativity in transforming a commonplace material into a canvas for fine art.
"On the Move" is an invitation to viewers to contemplate the beauty of everyday motion and the stories told by the human body. Whether displayed in a living room, studio, or gallery, this piece is sure to captivate and inspire conversation.
