"Manuel" by Derrick Santini is a captivating photograph from his acclaimed La Verna Calif series. Taken in 1989, this piece forms part of Santini's American Odyssey of the Deep South and Midwest, inspired by the Farm Security Administration (FSA) and the book "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men."

This striking image features Manuel, a dignified figure standing confidently in front of a vintage car. His attire—a sharp suit and hat—contrasts with the rural landscape, creating a powerful focal point. The vivid colours of his clothing and the car pop against the muted tones of the background, adding depth and dimension to the photograph.
