Carrie Reichardt’s Humpty Dumpty plate is a subversive fusion of nostalgia, protest, and pop culture. Produced in collaboration with the Duchess China 1888 Factory in Stoke-on-Trent, this 27.5 cm bone china plate transforms traditional ceramic craft into bold social commentary.
A vivid yellow smiley face—emblematic of rave culture—is overlaid with surreal and symbolic imagery: a vintage illustration of Humpty Dumpty, a black-and-white photo of Alexandra Palace, and a patch of floral fabric pattern. Together, these layered visuals evoke a playful yet fractured reflection on British identity, storytelling, and social structures.
Reichardt’s distinctive use of collage and satire makes this piece both visually impactful and intellectually provocative. Part sculpture, part souvenir, and entirely collectable.
